Here’s the official info text for Till the Wheels Fall Off:

“Tony Hawk: Until the Wheels Fall Off” is a wide-ranging, definitive look at Hawk’s life and iconic career, and his relationship with the sport with which he’s been synonymous for decades. Hawk, born in San Diego, California, is a pioneer of modern vertical skating and one of the most influential skateboarders of all time. The documentary features unprecedented access, never-before-seen footage, and interviews with Hawk, and prominent figures in the sport including Stacy Peralta, Rodney Mullen, Mike McGill, Lance Mountain, Steve Caballero, Neil Blender, Andy MacDonald, Duane Peters, Sam Mortimer, and Christian Hosoi.

While the film covers the many hundreds of injuries Hawk has sustained through his 45 years of skateboarding, he’ll have chalked another down this week that’s been particularly difficult to handlea: femur fracture that the athlete detailed in a lengthy social media post:

In Tony’s words, “There is a strange irony that this happened on the eve of HBO releasing a trailer for “Until The Wheels Fall Off,” Sam Jones’ documentary about my life & career, which has a strong focus on the philosophy of how I/we do this at our age.

The answer is complicated, but ultimately it’s because I have found my sense of purpose and shaped my identity through skating, and it nourishes my mental health immensely.”

Tony Hawk: Until the Wheels Fall Off premieres on HBO Max, on April 5th 2022.
