Beyond world-class snorkeling, luxury hotel living at the Four Seasons, and exploring Lana'i City, discover five more awesome things to do on Lanai, Hawaii.

Beyond world-class snorkeling at Hulopoe Bay, luxury hotel living at the Four Seasons Resort, and browsing tiny boutiques in Lanai City, what are some other awesome things to do on Lanai?

We have been visiting Lanai for over a decade. And thanks to recent investment in the island, there are new ways to experience this exclusive Hawaiian destination. Here are five of our favorite things to do on Lanai. These experiences are accessible to people staying on the island or planning a day trip to Lanai.

Rent a Jeep 4×4 and Go Off-Road

Gleaming Jeep Wrangler 4×4 vehicles parked in front of the Four Seasons Resort Lanai beckon you to explore the 90,000-acre island. Spend a day following old dirt roads and rugged trails to lunar-like Keahiakawelo (Garden of the Gods), secluded Polihua Beach, and picturesque Kaiolohia Beach (Shipwreck Beach).

Get Your Feline Fix

While you are exploring the island, stop at the Lanai Cat Sanctuary, home to over 500 spayed/neutered felines (AKA Lanai Lions) – it is a purrfect place to spend a few hours. Don’t forget to pack cat treats – you will be pawpular amongst the locals.

The Lanai Cat Sanctuary provides shelter for cats trying to survive in the wild, protects birds, and works to prevent feline overpopulation.

Rip It up on a Guided Polaris ATV Tour

A mix of speed, nature, and culture, the guided Polaris off-road adventure is unforgettable.

Ridgeline views of Lanai and neighboring islands, ancient cultural sites including petroglyphs, and engaging stories about Lanai’s unique history make this one of the most memorable things to do on Lanai. A Polaris self-drive option is available for guests wanting to get behind the wheel.

Ready, Aim, Fire

Travel to the island’s forested highlands, where private instructors at the renovated Lanai Archery and Shooting Range are waiting to help you take your best shot.

Lanai Archery

At the archery course, 3D animal targets including a ferocious dinosaur dare you to pick up a bow and arrow. With targets ranging 5 to 25 yards away, this activity is suitable for all skill levels.

Travel Tips – Awesome Things to Do on Lanai

  • All of these activities covered in this story are available to guests at the Four Seasons Lanai and people visiting the island for the day. Lanai is a scenic 45-minute sailing via Expeditions Ferry from Maui or a commercial flight from one of the Hawaiian islands.
  • Contact the Adventure Center to book these and other experiences on Lanai.
  • You can use this detailed Lanai Guide App to learn more about the island and opportunities to explore this unique destination.
  • Shipwreck Beach is subject to strong winds coming through the Pailolo Channel creating rough waters and powerful currents. The beach is unsuitable for swimming. At Polihua Beach, stay out of the water – the current is very dangerous.
  • Visit the Four Seasons Lanai website for special offers and vacation packages.  Contact the Front Desk at +1 (808) 565-2000 or Resort Reservations +1 (800) 321-4666.

The Archery, Shooting Range, and Polaris ATV experiences were hosted, but I wouldn’t hesitate to book these again. As always, if I don’t love an experience, I won’t recommend it.
