Russia reopens visa processing in India enabling airlines to create an air bubble

THDNewsDesk, New Delhi: A new destination could soon start for Indian tourists keen to explore after months of sojourning in their homes during the pandemic. From Wednesday, Russia has recommenced receiving all visa applications — including tourist visas— at its visa application centers in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata.
A Covid negative test is needed to appeal for visas and e-visas for now. India and Russia are in discussions to create an air bubble that will enable airlines of both sides to conduct flights.
On Saturday, the Russian Embassy in Delhi Tweeted: “Issuing of visas of all categories (including student visa) to enter Russia via air checkpoints is resumed for the Indian citizens, as well as for persons who have a residence permit. Please, note that issuance of e-visa is temporarily suspended until an appropriate directive of the Russian government.”
The Russian Embassy added, “We would like to emphasize the need to obtain in addition to the standard packet of the required documents (list of them is posted on the Embassy’s website and website of the Russian Visa Centers in a valid medical document confirming negative results of the laboratory PCR test for Covid-19.”
Seychelles which freshly became among the first countries in the world to provide quarantine-free passage to travelers who present evidence of being injected along with a negative Covid test report. The Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) recently approved an air bubble pact with India to enable Air Seychelles to fly between the two countries.
Russia had commenced creating it simpler for foreigners, including Indians, to tour the country in 2019 by raising the number of entry points from where they can do so on a free e-visa and stay there for up to eight days. Nevertheless, the Covid pandemic affected tourism globally, and now efforts are doted to recover the same by practicing needed precautions through exceptional methods like air bubbles.
