The Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) has banned eminent sports journalist Boria Majumdar for a period of two years for sending “threatening and intimidating” messages to Indian wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha.

The decision prevents Boria from getting press accreditation for any matches organised by the board, interviewing centrally-contracted players, and an embargo on access to facilities of the BCCI and its state units.

Earlier this year, Wridhhiman Saha posted a screenshot of a WhatsApp chat but maintained the anonymity of the journalist. The tone of the texts he received was indeed patronising, as the journalist was threatening him to do an interview.

“After all of my contributions to Indian cricket..this is what I face from a so called “Respected” journalist! This is where the journalism has gone,” wrote Saha.

Many former cricketers, including Ravi Shastri and Virender Sehwag, came in support of Saha, while fans vented out their frustration on Boria Mazumdar, who is no stranger to controversy.

Life came full circle for one Twitter user who was involved in a feud with Boria a few months ago. Quoting Boria’s interview of Rohit, the user wrote: “As if Sourav Ganguly wasn’t enough, he’s got great relations with Rohit too. Indian cricket is gonna be in shambles with all the leaks and conspiracies floating around.”

“Shall I send you a bucket to cry on?” replied Boria.

The user finally had his revenge, as he asked the same question to Boria after the latest development.

In the past, he was trolled heavily for mansplaining cricket to Alyssa Healy, arguably the greatest cricketer of an era.
